TOPIC: RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD – WHAT MATTERS MOST ON EARTH
SCRIPTURE: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your relationship with God is what matters most on earth; it determines your eternity in Heaven.
In life, knowing what really matters and pursuing it is key to profitable living.
Alexander the Great was one of the most powerful men who ever lived.
I heard that when he was about to die, he was surrounded by his war generals who all tried to save his life. When he realised that death was imminent, he made three requests.
First, he told them, “When I die, let my doctors carry my remains to the burial ground.
Secondly he said, “When burying me, please bury me with my two hands stretched out and opened.”
Thirdly he said, “Pour all my gold, silver and diamond, etc., on the ground on the pathway from the house to the graveyard where I would be buried”
Afterwards, one of his lieutenants asked him, “Sir, anything you said we should do, we shall do, but please, why do you want us to carry out these instructions?”
He told them, “First, let my doctors carry me and bury me to let the world know that when it is time to die, no doctor can save you. Second, my hands should be stretched out and open to let the world know that everything I acquired, I carried none with me out of the world. Third, the precious stones and the valuables should be poured on the ground so that everyone would know that they are of the same value with the earth.”
You see, this was a man who lived a life of conquest and had great possessions, but at the end, he realised that all those things did not matter.
The truth is, your relationship with God is what matters most on earth; it determines your eternity in Heaven. Therefore, surrender or dedicate your life to Jesus. Make up your mind to build a strong relationship with God.
Remember this: Your relationship with God is what matters most on earth; it determines your eternity in Heaven.
ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Surrender or re-dedicate your life to God if you have not yet done that.
2. Maintain a buoyant relationship with God at the place of prayer and study of the Word.
PRAYER: Thank You Lord for showing me the pathway to a profitable life. I ask for the grace to maintain a buoyant relationship with You, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
