TOPIC: CARRY YOUR EXTRA
SCRIPTURE: “2. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:” (Matthew 25: 2-3)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture explains why some of the ten virgins were considered as being foolish. The five foolish virgins took their lamps, but took no oil with them. The five foolish virgins had oil in their lamps that could last for a while, but they had none to refill their lamps in case the oil in the lamps finished. The foolishness of the foolish virgins was in not having extra oil for their journey. They were foolish for not giving consideration for extra.

Friend, in 2023, walk with your extra. Go the extra mile. Do more than you are expected to you. Take your excellence to the next level. Plan to make extra efforts, extra prayers, extra commitment and dedication to God, extra vision and understanding, extra preparation, extra vocations, extra investments, extra focus, extra capacity, extra competence, extra spiritual fire power, etc. As you show up, never accept to be less when you can be more.
The foolish virgins may have had oil in their lamps when their journey began, but the delay in the arrival of the bridegroom brought them to that point where their oil finished. They had oil to start but not enough oil to complete their journey. Just because you have oil in your lamp does not mean you don’t need an extra. That your light is still shining does not mean you do not need extra oil. Your lack of extra is an embarrassment in waiting.
Carrying extra oil may have initially seemed needless and burdensome to the foolish virgins, but in a matter of time, they began to beg the wise virgins for the extra oil they came with. They failed to carry an extra, and they began to beg those who had extra for themselves. If you fail to carry extra oil, you will soon become a slave and a subordinate to those with extra oil. If you fail to manifest the extra, you may lose your place in destiny.
Don’t wait for your light to go off before you intentionally get your extra oil. Pay the price and gain the extra oil you need for your journey.
Proverbs 22: 29 says: “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
Declare With Me: In 2023, I go with extra oil, nothing missing, nothing broken, in Jesus’ name!
