TOPIC: THE PROMISE OF REVIVAL

TEXT: Isaiah 44:1-8(KJV)
44:1. Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
44:2. Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
44:3. For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

44:4. And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
44:5. One shall say, I am the LORD’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
44:6. Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

44:7. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
44:8. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

Anglican Daily Fountain 8th December 2023 STUDY:

Isaiah 43 ended with a warning of judgment; however, in the following chapter God reiterated His promise of hope and restoration. Here, God promised to pour out His Spirit as water over them. He promised to revive them again and so they needed not fear-if only they turned back to Him. He would revive them by pouring out water on the one who was thirsty, His Spirit on the seed of Israel, and His blessing on the people. Simply put, God would supply the basic spiritual need of Israel. He would do it because He is the First and the Last. Beside Him, there is no God.

There are many things that the church needs today, but one thing that’s absolutely needful is the power of the Holy Spirit in the life and midst of His people. We desperately need God’s revival! The effect of this revival will be life. Life springs up and grows where the Spirit of God is poured out. And God is looking for dry grounds to pour His floods upon!

He will not only pour out His Spirit but also pour His blessings on our offspring and us. But we cannot expect to receive and experience these unless we return to the Lord. Then we can thirst and hunger for the outpouring of the Spirit and expect God to answer us. God does not revive the unconverted.

PRAYER:Β Father; please forgive our sins and revive us again in Jesus name, Amen.
