TOPIC: TRUE LAMENESS, TRUE BLINDNESS

TEXT: Matthew 15:29-39(KJV)
15:29. And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
15:30. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
15:31. Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
15:32. Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

15:33. And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
15:34. And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
15:35. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
15:36. And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
15:37. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
15:38. And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
15:39. And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

Anglican Daily Fountain 12th December 2023 STUDY:

Great crowds came to Him bringing the lame, the bind, the crippled, the mute and many others with diverse challenging situations. Jesus healed them(vv. 29-31). Do we have this situation in the church of Christ today? Yes, we have the lame. A lame man is not just someone who cannot walk.

Although a two-month old baby cannot walk, we cannot regard such as being lame because by reason of age, s/he is not expected yet to walk. But if after two years and that child cannot walk, we may consider him or her lame. They are many spiritually lame people in our churches today- those who by reason of spiritual age should be more mature in serving Christ, but are yet babes needing milk. Are you where you should be in your walk with God considering your ‘age in the Lord’? Are you still lame, sitting and doing nothing while souls are heading to Hell?

The same thing applies to blindness. A one-day-old baby may not yet see clearly, but cannot be said to be blind. But with time, s/he is expected to see or be labelled blind. Can you see the word of God clearly? Are you still arguing about what is clearly called sin in the Bible? Are you blind to your foul temper while blaming everybody else? Notice that all those in these conditions were brought to Christ for healing. In prayer, let us arise today bringing people in these conditions to Jesus for healing.

PRAYER: Heal us, O Lord!
