Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Today’s Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 24th October 2022

Can you remember a time when God stopped you from doing something you really wanted to do? Did you obey him? Read vs.1‐4 again. Note that in His wisdom, God allowed Rehoboam to finish all preparations for the war before stopping him. If you were Rehoboam, would you have obeyed the Lord’s instruction so promptly (v.4b)? One of the marks of a genuine Christian is obedience to the Lord.

We cannot claim to love the Lord if we do not obey His instructions (John 14:23‐24; 1 Samuel 15:22). Observe that because Rehoboam obeyed the Lord, he avoided the destruction and wastage of resources that usuaslly come with war and was able to concentrate on development (vs.5‐12). Africa will experience better peace and development if we and our leaders listen to and obey the word of God more conscientiously.

What other blessings of obedience to God can you see in vs.13, 16‐17 (cf., Proverbs 16:7)? If we obediently follow the Lord, we will have peace and blessings, and our nations will be attractive to investors and partners.
