TODAY’S TOPIC: VENGEFULNESS
SCRIPTURE: LEVITICUS 19:18; PROVERBS 24:29
Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.
Prov 24:29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
TODAY’S MESSAGE ON DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST
Vengefulness is a continuous seeking for opportunity to punish somebody who has harmed you, usually in a more terrible manner. It is true that people often harm us in diverse ways. But God himself has forbidden vengeance among his children. Today’s texts teach that we must not seek revenge, do harm or keep a grudge against a fellow brother for what he has done to us.
Are you keeping a grudge against someone and seeking for an opportunity to avenge? Doing so is self-harming. It also deprives you of peace and calmness of heart. You must be willing to wait for the Lord to avenge for you (Romans 12:19).
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
REFLECTION
Vengefulness can affect your health.
