DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST 26TH FEBRUARY 2023
TOPIC: REBUKING WRONG BEHAVIOUR
SCRIPTURE: GALATIANS 2:11-13
11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
TODAY’S WORD: DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST
Rebuking wrong behaviour is Biblical. Paul told Timothy to teach, correct and rebuke believers (2 Timothy 3:16).
Unfortunately, today, Christians do not readily accept rebuke rather, they want to be petted when they do wrong.
From our reading, Paul rebuked Peter to his face because he was totally in the wrong. He was hypocritical, which is one of the hindrances of peace. Hypocrisy is infectious and can destroy peace in the home, church and society. Peter led others astray in his hypocrisy including Barnabas. Many do not tolerate reproof because of their ego and fear of being exposed. But rebuke is meant to draw us into the right path. Those that love you are the ones who care enough to correct you. So, do not despise rebuke.
REFLECTION
Accept rebuke.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to accept rebuke when I err. Amen.
