DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST 7 MARCH 2023
TODAY’S TOPIC: SELF-CENTEREDNESS
SCRIPTURE: PHILIPPIANS 2:2-4
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
TODAY’S WORD: DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST
Self-centeredness is an “Immoderate concern with one’s own interests and wellbeing”. Loving one’s self and looking out for one’s interests is natural (Mark. 12:31). However, the inordinate love for self is what scripture frowns at. A self-centred person will always want the best, dominate every conversation, crave attention anywhere he goes and take advantage of all situations and so on.
This is irritating and hampers peace. Self-centeredness is a sin; therefore, those who are self-centred cannot please God (see 3 John 9). A self-centred person is self-destructs and ends up bearing fruit for death (Romans 7:5). Brother, consider the interests of others also. In the same way you love yourself, learn to love others.
REFLECTION
Do not always focus on self.
PRAYER
Father, forgive me for being self-centred, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
