JOHN HAGEE DAILY DEVOTIONAL 5TH DECEMBER 2022

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 8:15
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’.

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. We were prisoners because of the crimes we had committed – slaves to sin, estranged from God.

We sat on death row, awaiting the punishment for our wrongdoing. We were guilty, and the death sentence was just. But the Father did the unexpected when He sent His Son into the penitentiary.

He took our place and allowed us to walk out free and clear. He covered our debt, so justice was paid. He wiped away our record to give us a clean slate, a new beginning.

Even more unexpected than our redemption is the fact that He wants to adopt us. Often, when prisoners are released, they have no place to call home, no family to receive them, no purpose to inspire them.

But God adopts us as His own children. He welcomes us into His family. He calls and commissions us. His Spirit in us causes us to cry out, “Abba, Father,” the most intimate, tender exchange between a Father and a child.

If we only accept redemption, we merely receive a portion of what God intended. When we accept the grace of His adoption, we look like the sons and daughters He created us to be – the spitting image of our Father.

Today’s Blessing: May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. He redeemed you with the Blood of Jesus. His Spirit lives in you, and He calls you His child. You are free indeed!
