MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY

TODAY’S TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF MORDECAI (2)
Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya(DKO).

Memory Verse:
Psalm 5:8 – Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies, make thy way straight before my face.

Motivational Quote:
Do all that is within your power to help somebody today, because he may end up being your savior tomorrow.

Prophetic Word for Today:
The hand of Haman in the affairs of your life shall wither today, in the name of Jesus.

Fire Scripture:
Esther 3:1-6

1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

3 Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment?

4 Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 10TH JUNE 2023

Today, we shall continue with the lessons from the life of Mordecai which we commenced yesterday. We shall look at another aspect of the virtues to learn from him. According to today’s Fire Scripture, Mordecai was loyal to God and all that He represents.

As a result of this, he refused to bow down to Haman (vs 4). It is likely that the honour the king’s servants and others gave to Haman was not deserved or it was the type only for God. Daniel’s three companions showed the same conviction and loyalty to God (Daniel 3:1-12).

Those around Mordecai wanted to know why he did not bow down or kneel. He gave them only one answer: he was a Jew. God sent the Jews into captivity to remove from them the strong pull toward following ungodly nations and worshipping their false gods. We see from Ezra and Nehemiah that the Jews who went back to Jerusalem had leamed their lesson about this weakness. They wanted to regain a pure form of worship back to God. Dearly beloved, God is still God that rules in the affairs of men.

The Bible has this to say in the book of Isaiah 42:8: God will never share His glory with anyone. The glory that belongs to God must be given to Him. That was what Mordecal realised and it made Him to ignore Haman, who was trying to play God. His loyalty to the God of the Jews was unalloyed, and because of this, God fought for the Jews.

The enemy planned genocide against them, but God tumed the table and the enemy paid dearly for it. When we exalt God, He will work for us and fight for us. God will highly esteem those that can speak on His behalf. Are you like Mordecal? Can you show your loyalty to God even in the face of daunting opposition and extermination?
