MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY

TODAY’S TOPIC: THE REFINER’S FIRE (1)
Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya(DKO).

Memory Verse:
1 Peter 1:7 – That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

Motivational Quote:
God disciplines and corrects those He loves.

Prophetic Word for Today:
God’s strength will uphold you in the day of adversity, in the name of Jesus.

Fire Scripture
Malachi 3:1-6

1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.

6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR 24 AUGUST 2023

As we walk with God, He uses a kind of fire to keep us in check, to ensure we are operating in His will, to perfect our faith. This kind of fire is called a refiner’s fire.

The aim of God’s refining fire is not to destroy us, but to purify us. Just as a goldsmith would melt gold in fire, so that the impurities in it would rise to the top and be removed, making the gold pure, God allows us to pass through fire so that we can be purified (Mal.3:2-3). This fire may come in form of affliction, persecution, hardship, suffering, trial, etc. Its purpose is not to destroy us but to make us better Christians.

In our comfort zones, many of our weaknesses, sins and bad habits remain within, unnoticed. But with God’s refining fire, these things rise up, even to our own surprise, and that is when they get dealt with. And sometimes, we do not even know the strength of our faith till we pass through a fire, and once we overcome, that experience becomes a reference for the hope of future victories (1 Samuel 17:33-37).
Instead of focusing on avoiding God’s refining fire, be patient to hear God through it. Learn the lessons and allow yourself to be made pure. The process would be painful, and it would seem like God has disappeared from your life.

It would seem like God has become suddenly silent; do not be in a rush to get out of the process. In that seeming silence, wait to hear God, for He is as present as He has ever been with you.
Through it all, never forget who God is. As long as your definition of God remains good, faithful and loving, you can trust that He will bring you through the fire better and stronger (Psalm 25:8; Nahum 1:7).

PRAYER POINTS FOR THURSDAY 24TH AUGUST 2023:

MORNING
1. O Lord, I welcome Your refining fire into my life to purify me, in the name of Jesus.
2. I receive strength to come out better and stronger, in the name of Jesus.
3. Anything that is not glorifying God in my life, be uprooted and die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
1. Every ungodly habit in my life, be exposed, and die, in the name of Jesus.
2. O Lord, open my eyes to see myself just as You see me, in the name of Jesus.
3. O Lord, perfect my faith in You, in the name of Jesus.
4. I decree that I am more than a conqueror, in the name of Jesus.
