Scripture Union Daily Guide 3rd June 2023 Outline: 

Marriage expresses intimate relationship between a man and a woman. It also symbolises God’s relationship with His people. The Psalm is a wedding song composed and dedicated to celebrate the marriage of a king (probably Solomon). Later this Psalm took a larger meaning, referring not just to the King but to the Anointed One (Christ), the One who is both God (v.6) and man (v.2; cf. Hebrews 1:8-9). It prophetically describes the Messiah’s future relationship to the church, His bride (Revelation 19:7-8, 21:9).

Read vs.2-8 and take note of the glory of the king and how he is praised. Vs.10-15 focus on the bride and what is expected of her – she is to forget her people and her father’s house, honour her husband, the king, etc. As a bride of Christ, do you celebrate Him, the One who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords? Are you completely loyal to Him? He alone deserves the praises of His Church. True worship is an outflow of our heartfelt response to God in appreciation of who He is and for His love for us.

Practice/Word Application
And So: Turn vs.6-7 into a worship song. Extol the qualities of Christ the King and express your love for Him.

► The open invitation given to all to come to the Lord.
► The faithfulness of God to forgive sins and cleanse people from all unrighteousness.
► SU staff as they continue in their duties of serving God in SU.

PRAY FOR:
► Our SU staff that God will enable them continue their services in peaceful, godly and dignified way.
► The pilgrims and staff of SU that we continue to serve God in SU in ways that are pleasing to our God.
► SU to continue in the truth of the undiluted word of God.

PRAY AGAINST:
► Dangerous compromises of the truth of the word of God.
► Failing to depend on the help of the Holy Spirit even as we continue in service both as pilgrims and staff of SU.
