PASTOR JERRY EZE DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE FOR JULY 19, 2023
TODAY’S TOPIC: DON’T FAIL GOD
SCRIPTURE: “And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” (1 Samuel 16: 1)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture speaks of the moment when God decided that He was done with Saul and his kingship. Saul was chosen by God, anointed by Samuel and ordered to be captain of the people of God. Saul failed God, and he lost his place on the throne. He disobeyed God, he failed God, he failed in his assignment, and it became his albatross. His failure made room for another man to rise. His failure made God give his place to another.
Friend, did you know that your failure is another man’s chance to rise? When you disappoint God, you are asking Him to give your place to another. When you go against God’s will for your life, you are asking Him to take your throne and give to another man. When you make the mistake of falling out of line with regard to the instructions that God has given you, you are asking to be taken out of the place that God reserved for you.
Saul had instructions to wipe out the entire Amalekites, but he killed some and spared their king, against God’s command. His obedience was incomplete, and he paid the price for it. If you have chosen to follow Jesus, then by all means, let your obedience be complete. Don’t choose to obey God in some matters and be disobedient in other matters. Don’t choose the truth when it is convenient and resort to lies when it is not.
God never told Saul that he would lose his throne if he disobeyed. So Saul had no ideas about what the consequences of his misbehavior would be. You may have ideas on how to disobey or even totally embarrass God, but you may never have a grip on what the consequences would be. You may choose to conveniently disobey God, but you may not find any convenience or hiding place when the consequences show up.
Don’t be counted amongst them that lost their place in destiny because of disobedience to God. Choose to walk in line with the will of God. Choose to do the right and leave the wrong.
Isaiah 1: 19 says: “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:”
Declare With Me: I will not fail God; I will not lose my place to another, in Jesus’ name!
