TODAY’S TOPIC: WHERE IS HE?

SCRIPTURE: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23: 1)

  • That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

STREAMS OF JOY DEVOTIONAL 8 JUNE 2023 || PASTOR JERRY EZE

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist said that “The Lord is his shepherd”. Notice that the psalmist didn’t speak of the Lord in past tense. He spoke of the role of the Lord as his shepherd, in present tense. It was not a relationship that used to exist. It was not a revelation of what used to happen. It was a revelation of what was happening between him and the Lord at the time. It was a current situation between him and the Lord.

Friend, how current is your revelation of Jesus? How current is your relationship with God? How current is your communication with your Master? How current is your knowledge of the One who sits on the throne? How current are you in your walk with God? Are you where God is currently, or where He used to be? Are you where God has asked you to be in, or where He previously asked you to be in? How updated are you with Him?

The psalmist didn’t speak of a relationship that used to be. He spoke about a relationship that was currently in existence. He spoke of a revelation that was fresh, not expired. In this season, keep your walk with God fresh. Discover who He wants to be in your life at the moment. Discover what He is saying at the moment. Be updated in your walk with God. Be where He is, not where He was.

David was not about to tell of a relationship that once existed. He spoke of the one that was existing. If all you have with God is what you used to have with Him, then just maybe you have lost Him already. If all you have with God is your past works and past walks, then you have lost out of His current moves and current movement. If your relationship with Him has lost freshness, then you should be crying out already.

Remember, it’s not about who He used to be in your life. It is about who He currently is in your life as at now. Draw nigh to Him and He will unveil Himself freshly to you.

Psalm 63: 1 says: “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;”

Declare With Me: My walk with God will never be in the past, in Jesus’ name!
