Outline For SU Daily Guide 4th November 2022 Devotional

The disciples enjoyed deep, open fellowship. Paul and his team enjoyed awesome hospitality from the people who freely received them in their homes. Is your home a place of refreshment for missionaries? Paul encountered several disciples at Tyre, including Philip and Agabus. He also received prophetic messages concerning his visit to Jerusalem. Notice the clarity with which Agabus declared his message and the manner he conveyed it (vs.10‐11).

Despite this, Paul refused to be dissuaded from his journey to Jerusalem. What must have caused Paul to act contrary to these prophecies and the various warnings (Acts 9:16; 20:22‐24)? Paul’s team covered thousands of kilometres on rough seas in hostile territory. Obeying God has never been easy. The gospel already gained roots in several Asian countries, which unfortunately are now under Islam.

They kept meticulous travel records, including stopovers with Philip whose four daughters prophesied, a witness to the power of godly foundation (vs.8‐9). Philip was earlier selected as deacon to distribute food to relieve the apostles for their preaching assignments. (Acts 6:1‐6). Now Philip is “the evangelist”. His title didn’t distract him (Acts 8). Holding office in government, business or church should not stop us from witnessing to other people.
