TODAY’S READING
Luke 11:5-13

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
At all times, God is ready to listen to my requests.

Everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. – Luke 11:10 (NIV)

When I wanted to determine how best to invest my savings, I spoke with a financial advisor. When I needed to install an outdoor electrical circuit, I hired an electrician. And when my mower broke, I took it to a repair shop. In each of these instances, the task at hand required knowledge and skills beyond my own, so I went to an expert.

So why, then, do I insist on relying on my own knowledge when it comes to other important matters? When I need guidance and understanding about my current situation or about my future, no one is more capable than God.

It is good for us to be honest, to ask for God’s guidance, and to request that God’s will for our lives be made clear to us. We can ask and keep asking; seek and keep seeking; knock and keep knocking. Because God often communicates with us through the Bible, may we remember always to seek God there.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, give us the faith to ask you for wisdom. Open our hearts to receive and follow your guidance. Amen.

PRAYER FOCUS
For God’s guidance
