Read and Meditate on Today’s Daily Guide Devotional for 7th April 2023. May the Lord bless you as you study!

TODAY’S TOPIC: THE TRUE SON OF GOD

OPENING PRAYER: May the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you, O Lord as I read from your word.

Scripture: Mark 15: 16- 39

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

OUTLINE FOR DAILY GUIDE 7TH APRIL 2023 DEVOTIONAL:

Observe how Jesus submitted to all the mockery and insults from the people to the satisfaction of the soldiers. It was as if He was powerless to defend Himself (vs.16-20). He resisted the opportunities to display His power and promote self instead of the will of God for His life. In vs.29-32 the people expected Jesus to save Himself, but He focused on saving you and me from our sins. We also should be selfless and ready to suffer so we can bring others to salvation in Christ.

Vs.33,34, 37-38 reveal the enormity and weight of sin of human race that was laid upon the Son of God and the consequent release of God’s wrath and full judgment on Him to secure our freedom. Do you believe this in your heart? At the death of Jesus on the cross, the curtain in the temple tore apart, from top to bottom (v.38). Recall that in the Old Testament, only the Jewish high priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year to meet with God.

But the death of Jesus on the cross grants all who believe in Him an open access to God. This is the message of Good Friday. Read Hebrews 9 for a more complete explanation.

Practice/Word Application
And so? Determine to allow God to use you as a vessel of reconciling human race back to himself through the message of the Gospel.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Pray for unbelievers in and outside the Church to accept the message of the cross in their hearts.
