TODAY’S TOPIC: GOD COMFORTS REPENTANT SINNERS.

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, make me more like you through the power of your word as I meditate on it.

Scripture Union Daily Guide 24th February 2024 Outline: 

From the beginning of his book, prophet Isaiah had been speaking about God punishing Judah and Israel because of their sins and disobedience. But now he is preaching comfort for God’s people (v.1). In v.2, he speaks of people having received double punishment for their sins but now God shows love to them and invites them to talk about their failings (1:18). How does this encourage us as believers? God loves and comforts repentant sinners. Feel encouraged to come to God with your failures and receive His promised comfort.

Vs.3 and 4 call for the preparation of a way in the wilderness for the coming of our God and probably also for returnees from exile. These words were quoted by John when teaching about the coming of Jesus (John 1:23). Wilderness and desert may stand for trials in life that we must work through so we can have a good relationship with the Lord. Things are not always easy. We must fight our way through them for the glory of our God to be revealed in our lives (v.5). We are human beings who are transitory (vs.6-8). Time to prepare for the coming of the Lord is now. We cannot keep procrastinating.

Prayer for the week
• Pray that God will revive His zeal in the hearts of believers, so that there will be more passion for His work. • Pray for grace and knowledge to sustain the revival • Pray against spiritual coldness and loss of spiritual sensitivity among believers.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalm 37:39

• Not letting the spirit to direct our lives
• Giving-in to satisfy the human nature.
