TODAY’S TOPIC: CONCERN FOR THE LOST

Opening Prayer: Make my life oh Lord a reflection of you as I study your word.

Scripture: Romans 9:1 – 13

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 30th May 2023 Outline:

Paul’s deep concern, and anguish of heart for his people is similar to that of Abraham for Sodom and Gomorrah and of Daniel for the exiled Israel. This drove all three to pray earnestly for the nation and people (Genesis 18:20-33 and Daniel 9:1-19). How concerned are we about the salvation of our relations, friends, and neighbours? If we love Christ, we will grieve over those who are spiritually lost. This will eventually lead us to pray for, and share the Good News with them in obedience to The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19&20).

Read vs.4-5 again and observe the initial election of Israel and the accompanying blessing. However, they misused the privilege. When the Messiah came, they rejected and crucified Him. Therefore, they were temporarily rejected by God and this provides an opportunity for the Gentiles to be brought in. Thus, through faith in Christ, the Gentiles have become spiritual offspring of Abraham (vs.6-8; also see Romans 11:11-12).

God’s election simply means that it was God’s choice to save us by His mercies and not by any merit of our own (vs.10-13). We need to be ever thankful for that.

PRAYER FOCUS: MEMBERS OF CHRIST BODY
So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. – Romans 12:5

THANK GOD FOR:
► Making us members of one another whereby we can look out for each other’s need.
► The provisions God has made available to keep body and soul intact despite the hardship in the land.

PRAY FOR:
► Increased love for the brethren as we continue to pray for one another and share fellowship with one another.
► Brethren God has been using to support the work and other brethren in lack that the good Lord will continue to replenish their source.
► Growth both physical and spiritual and financial for the brethren in SU.

PRAY AGAINST:
► Failing to share and disunity that will make all people mind only their own needs.
► Lack of spiritual growth in the Christendom that make people selfish and self-centered.
