Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 March 2024 Outline:

“Now is the son of man glorified and God is glorified in Him.” (v.31). This refers to the misery of Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection. Through His suffering God would be glorified because sinners would be saved and as a result, he would fulfil His purpose and mission (Matthew 1:21). As believers, we are also assured that, if we suffer with Him, we will also reign with Him in His glory. Thus, Saint Paul considers Christian suffering as a “light affliction” compared to the glory we would share with Him (Romans 8:17-18).

Read v.33 again. If you were among the disciples, how would you have felt by this news? Sometimes, when God reveals His will to us, it might be so painful that we feel heartbroken and devastated emotionally. Remember, God is always working in our best interest (Romans 8:28). Let’s trust Him in endurance. How important are vs.34-35 to us today? This command has suffered neglect by Christians due to competition, rivalry, Church politics, selfishness, tribalism, etc. Little wonder, the Church has become so worldly that it’s difficult to distinguish between her and unbelievers.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
O God, revive your Church! Help us to return to your command to love one another as you have loved us.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Isaiah 41:10
